Description of Organisation
Geoghegan & Co is a well established, independent, seven partner firm, located in the centre of Edinburgh. In addition to the partners there are around 40 employees providing a first class service to our clients.
Geoghegan & Co provides a comprehensive training in a wide range of areas, in a friendly but professional environment. We currently employ 11 CA trainees and as a training firm provide full support to all of our students. Our best advertisement is those students who have trained with us. Many of them now hold senior positions both with the firm and with other large organisations in the UK and overseas.
We act for a wide range of clients, from sole traders to large corporate groups, and provide a comprehensive range of services including accounting, audit and taxation as well as advisory, corporate finance and insolvency. This allows us to offer a broad and interesting training.
Description of vacancy(s) offered
We are looking to recruit 5 graduates to commence training in August 2008. As well as a good academic record we are looking for all applicants to have good inter-personal skills and a clear commitment to providing outstanding client service.
The successful candidates will work primarily on accounting and audit assignments, but will receive a varied and interesting training over the three years of their training contract. You will use a laptop and the latest technology to assist you, including a fully computerised audit, accounts production and taxation packages, so good computer skills are also an advantage.
Full support will be given throughout your ICAS training, supplemented with internal training and support as well as supervised “on the job” training.
Minimum entry requirements : We are looking to recruit students with a fully accredited (by ICAS) degree, minimum 2:1 honours.
Application procedure : We would encourage anyone who is interested in this opportunity to apply through the ICAS recruitment website, although application forms can also be downloaded from our website. We normally start advertising our vacancies in September and have a closing date for all applications of the last Friday in November. Interviews are carried out in November and December.
